- Transistor — hat als Teil. A chip contains from dozens to billions of transistors.
- Chipgehäuse — hat als Teil. A hull.
- Photolithography — nutzt. The circuit pattern is transferred by light.
- Reinraum — nutzt. Production in cleanrooms.
- Silicon — ist hergestellt aus. The die of a chip is made of silicon.
- Silicon wafer — ist hergestellt aus. Chips are made on wafers.
- Aluminium — ist hergestellt aus. For decades thin aluminium tracks on the chip connected a microchip's transistors.
- Kupfer — ist hergestellt aus. Since the late 1990s chip wiring has been copper: it conducts better than aluminium.
