Operational amplifier and bellows: what they have in common
- Step 1. Operational amplifier — has part — Vacuum tube. The first op-amps used vacuum tubes.
- Step 2. Vacuum tube — is part of — ENIAC. ENIAC contained about 18,000 vacuum tubes.
- Step 3. ENIAC — uses — Punched card. ENIAC’s input and output went through IBM punched-card equipment.
- Step 4. Punched card — works like — Pinned cylinder. Pins on a cylinder and holes in a card are two ways of recording a sequence for a machine.
- Step 5. Pinned cylinder — is part of — Barrel organ. A pinned cylinder sets the tune.
- Step 6. Barrel organ — has part — Bellows. Bellows feed air into the pipes.
