Operating system and rope: what they have in common
- Step 1. Operating system — has part — File system. A file system.
- Step 2. File system — uses — Hard disk drive. Partitioning the disk.
- Step 3. Hard disk drive — has part — Ball bearing. Bearings (later fluid-dynamic ones).
- Step 4. Ball bearing — uses — Friction. A bearing replaces sliding friction with far lower rolling friction.
- Step 5. Friction — is used in — Rope. Twisted fibres hold each other by friction.
