Player piano et screw press : ce qu'ils ont en commun

1. Étape 1. Player piano — fonctionne comme — Jacquard loom. A perforated medium controls a machine — a weaving one in one case, a musical one in the other.
2. Étape 2. Jacquard loom — fonctionne comme — Gutenberg printing press. An analogy, not proven influence: both set type and a chain of punched cards are a replaceable pattern that a machine reproduces over and over.
3. Étape 3. Gutenberg printing press — a pour partie — Screw press. Gutenberg adapted the screw press known from pressing grapes.
