Leather bellows bag et gutenberg printing press : ce qu'ils ont en commun

1. Étape 1. Leather bellows bag — fait partie de — Soufflet. It changes volume when squeezed.
2. Étape 2. Soufflet — fait partie de — Player piano. Pedal bellows create suction.
3. Étape 3. Player piano — fonctionne comme — Jacquard loom. A perforated medium controls a machine — a weaving one in one case, a musical one in the other.
4. Étape 4. Jacquard loom — fonctionne comme — Gutenberg printing press. An analogy, not proven influence: both set type and a chain of punched cards are a replaceable pattern that a machine reproduces over and over.
