Fahrrad
Gerät · 1885 · Elektrisches Zeitalter
A two-wheeled machine with a pedal-driven chain to the rear wheel; the modern layout is Starley’s “safety bicycle”.
Erfinder: Karl Drais, Kirkpatrick Macmillan.
Kurze Geschichte
Vorgänger: Laufmaschine (1817), Michaux velocipede (1863), Rover safety bicycle (1885). Was daraus hervorging: Motorcycle (1885), E-Bike (1895), Moped (1950). Was es beeinflusste: Wright Flyer (1903).
Woraus es besteht
- Fahrradrahmen — hat als Teil. The frame ties all the units together and carries the rider.
- Fahrradrad — hat als Teil. Two wheels: the front one steers, the rear one drives.
- Fahrradantrieb — hat als Teil. The drivetrain transfers the force of the legs to the rear wheel — the main difference from a kick scooter.
- Handlebar — hat als Teil. The handlebar turns the front wheel and helps keep balance.
- Fahrradbremse — hat als Teil. Brakes stop the bicycle.
- Saddle — hat als Teil. The bicycle saddle took its name from the horse saddle.
- Fahrradlicht — hat als Teil. A lamp.
- Federgabel — hat als Teil. On mountain bikes a suspension fork absorbs bumps.
- Pedal — hat als Teil. You push the pedals with your feet — that is what moves the bike.
- Kugellager — hat als Teil. Ball bearings in the hubs and bottom bracket let the wheels and pedals spin easily.
Prinzipien und Materialien, die es nutzt
- Drehimpuls — nutzt. The spinning wheels and the steering geometry help keep balance.

Geschichte: woraus es sich entwickelte und was es beeinflusste
- Laufmaschine — entwickelte sich aus. The bicycle evolved from Drais’s running machine: pedals were added, then a chain drive.
- Motorcycle — entwickelte sich zu. The first motorcycles were built on the bicycle layout: two wheels in line, a frame, a handlebar.
- E-Bike — entwickelte sich zu. A bicycle with an electric drive.
- Wright Flyer — inspirierte. The experience of the Wrights’ bicycle shop — chains, light structures, the idea of controlled instability.
- Moped — entwickelte sich zu. A bicycle with a motor.
- Rover safety bicycle — entwickelte sich aus. The modern layout of the bicycle.
- Michaux velocipede — entwickelte sich aus. The modern bicycle grew out of the Michaux velocipede, which had pedals on the front wheel.

Ähnlich aufgebaute Dinge
- Heimtrainer — funktioniert wie. The “Gymnasticon” pedal machine (1796) is older than the bicycle; later exercise bikes adopted the bicycle layout.
