Voltmeter
appareil · 1882 · Ère électrique
Measures the voltage between two points of a circuit; it is connected in parallel.
Brève histoire
Prédécesseurs : Galvanometer (1820). Ce qui en est né : Multimeter (1920).
De quoi c'est fait
- Resistor — a pour partie. The series resistor gives the voltmeter a high resistance so it barely draws current from the circuit.
Histoire : d'où ça a évolué et ce que ça a influencé
- Galvanometer — a évolué de. A voltmeter is a galvanometer with a large series resistor: a tiny current, proportional to the voltage, flows through it.
- Multimeter — a évolué en. A multimeter combines a voltmeter, an ammeter and an ohmmeter in one case with a selector switch.
Choses construites de manière similaire
- Ampèremètre — fonctionne comme. They are built alike, but an ammeter goes in series with the circuit and a voltmeter in parallel.
