Voltmeter
aparelho · 1882 · Era elétrica
Measures the voltage between two points of a circuit; it is connected in parallel.
Breve história
Predecessores: Galvanometer (1820). O que surgiu disso: Multimeter (1920).
De que é feito
- Resistor — tem como parte. The series resistor gives the voltmeter a high resistance so it barely draws current from the circuit.
História: do que evoluiu e o que influenciou
- Galvanometer — evoluiu de. A voltmeter is a galvanometer with a large series resistor: a tiny current, proportional to the voltage, flows through it.
- Multimeter — evoluiu para. A multimeter combines a voltmeter, an ammeter and an ohmmeter in one case with a selector switch.
Coisas construídas de forma semelhante
- Amperímetro — funciona como. They are built alike, but an ammeter goes in series with the circuit and a voltmeter in parallel.
