Venturi effect (Bernoulli’s principle)
principle · 1738 · Early modern era
A flow’s pressure drops where its speed rises.
Where it is used
- Carburettor — is used in. In the throat of the venturi the pressure drops and draws in petrol.
- Lift — is used in. The pressure difference above and below the wing (simply put — Bernoulli).
- Bunsen burner — is used in. Air is drawn in by the jet of gas.
- Pitot tube — is used in. Dynamic pressure (Bernoulli).
- Nebulizer — is used in. Compressor nebulizers use the Venturi effect.
- De Laval nozzle — is used in. The nozzle accelerates the gas.
